HAMBURG- GATEWAY TO THE WORLD

Members of EMMAC have been invited to participate at the event HAMBURG – GATEWAY TO THE WORLD (Hamburgo - Puerta de Alemania al Mundo) which took place on the 5th of October in the Industrial Club of Mexico City (Club de Industriales, CDI).

This high-ranking event was celebrated in the context of the German week in Mexico which highlight was the celebration of the German National Holiday (Day of the German Reunification 3rd of October) which was celebrated on the 6th of October in the Residence of the German Ambassador with over 1500 guests.

The City State of Hamburg was this year’s sponsor and host state and presented the multilateral co-operation opportunities for Mexican and German partner. CDI president José Carral Escalante underlined the significance of the Mexican- German co-operation, especially in the context of the upcoming Dual-Year 2016/17.

German Ambassador Victor Elbling congratulated Hamburg for its traditional commercial relations to Mexico: commercial relations were already set up with the signing of the "Treaty of Commerce and Navigation" between Mexico and Hamburg in 1823. Finally, State Secretary of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, Wolfgang Schmidt, presented Hamburg as a modern city that has much more to offer than its world-class port and logistic services: Additional cluster have been set up in the aviation, IT and maritime sector as well as in LifeSciences, Food, Renewable Energies and in the creative and health sector.

After a business lunch all participants had the possibility to do networking and EMAAC´s members exchanged ideas with economic and political decision maker. The event was an absolute success and the perfect platform for EMMAC to intensify contacts to Germany. It was organized in cooperation with the German Embassy in Mexico and HWF Hamburg Business Development Corporation.
